Thousand Oaks Soaring Society is a social club chartered by the Academy  of Model Aeronautics (AMA Club 1493) whose purpose is to promote the building and flying of radio controlled model sailplanes. We have about 35 members who have a wide range of interests that range from building classic wood models to flying state of the art designs in competitions.

TOSS's main flying site is the Upper Terrace of Sapwi Trails Park . As a condition of our permit no powered aircraft of any kind allowed which includes electric launch sailplanes. In addition all fliers are required to carry AMA membership for insurance and must abide by the posted no-fly zones (no flying over adjacent houses or Westlake Boulevard). The flying area has facilities for 600' winch launches and an artificial grass landing area. There is parking and a restroom at the site.

TOSS's membership is open to anyone who applies. Although the site is open 7 days a week during normal park opening hours there are some exceptions, typically midweek during high school cross country season when the Upper Terrace is used for inter-school meets. Contact us by email for more information.

NOTE -- Sapwi Trails is a "Federally Recognized Identification Area". Models flown at this site do not need to carry Remote ID equipment. They should be labeled with the owners FAA registration number and the owner's AMA number.
